Updates From The Online Poker Industry
New versions, new styles and new opportunities
The world of online poker is constantly changing and given the many options available over the internet, it is very important for players to always stay up to date with the latest changes. Quite a few gambling operators made a few changes to their respective online poker arm in order to keep the gaming experience as enjoyable as possible, and also in order to attract more customers.
Ultimate Poker 2.0
Ultimate poker is the first, and so far the only, online poker room licensed in Nevada. After being live for a few months and with the software going through some minor updates over this time, Ultimate Poker has just released the 2.0 version of its software. When the poker room first launched, it was pretty obvious that the operator focused more on being first in a new market than on offering an online gaming software that can rival the offshore sites. This has mostly remained the same, but 2.0 comes with sharper graphics and important bug fixes.
No new games have been added to the slim Ultimate Poker software. The main attraction and the highly anticipated change is the “Color Up” VIP program, with 10 colors representing the different levels that customers will be able to go through. The CU program is very similar with the one used by the online poker giant PokerStars and will award two types of points; one to determine the level in the VIP program, called XP, and another to spend on rewards, called U-Points.
888 Poker on Mac
While Caesars Entertainment is expecting to launch a WSOP-brand online poker in Nevada with 888 Holdings powering the site, 888 Poker was recently made available for Mac users. Despite the popularity of the online poker room in Europe, the operator has waited a pretty long time to make this move and will certainly make users happy as the beta version became available for download last week.
Mac players were asked by an 888 rep to state if the new product can be held at the same standards that Steve Jobs had.
Sky Poker testing more options
Sky Betting & Gaming is one of the major operators in the United Kingdom and its poker arm, Sky Poker, went through some major changes in the process to add more poker variants later this year. The new software is still in testing and the changes were mostly regarding the Hold’em cash game tables but players can expect to find more options hit the poker room in September.
Changes were also made to the multi-tabling support and the action buttons were increased to help avoid making the wrong decisions in a hurry. The option to set different colors to player when taking notes is also included in the update.
Winamax launches “Espresso” Poker
After Full Tilt Poker launched the first fast-fold poker version called Rush Poker a few years ago, most of the major poker rooms followed with their own versions. Although the name is always different, the concept remains the same, until now.
French poker operator Winamax managed to come up with something new after a couple of years of the same idea being marketing as innovative changes by some poker sites. It is called “Espresso” poker and it is a fast paced Sit & Go poker variation. The game will match three opponents randomly, once every three minutes or less, while one of 9 prize pools will be made up for grabs. The nature of the game makes players buy-in several times, with stats showing that 75% of the players will do it twice. Four buy-ins take place 15% of the time and there is even the chance for the prize pool to reach 100 times the size of the buy-in.
